ParkPop 2008 -- The Hague

Yesterday I went to Parkpop in The Hague and it was fabulous fun! The weather was gorgeous (so much so that I crisped my shoulders - they are that kind of sunburned where your skin still feels hot to the touch the next day) and the music was diverse and good.

We arrived at MariĆ«lle's house at around 12:30, had some lunch together and then walked to the park. It was very busy but I can't say that I ever felt crowded. Which is very important if I am going to have a good time. :) There was plenty of space to sit and soak up the sun, which we did often. I paid €20 for a hotdog because I forgot my change (Goodmorning, Joanne) but other than that, there was very little to gripe about.

When we first arrived we listened to some of the local "talent" and then headed over to the market stalls that are a staple at these things. Lots of funny t-shirts, new age stuff and boot-leg CDs and merch. We found a stand with calendars for 2009 and what did we discover to our delight? 30 Seconds to Mars calendars!! Hahaha. Being the nutty birds we are, we bought six. Of course. And we took pictures of them. Of course. They even come with stickers. How fab is that??

To add to the hilarity, the toilet visits (€0,50 a pee - daylight robbery, if you ask me) were a laugh and a half when I pointed out you could add an "o" to the port-a-loo company's name and make it funny (for us).

Isn't Windows Paint fun? Hahaha.

We watched some of Racoon (I knew way more songs than I thought), Kula Shaker (I only knew one) and Sheryl Crow (she is way more fun to sing along to than I gave her credit for). Then, after Sheryl had wrapped up we headed back to public transport and trains to go home. I had a really lovely day - perfect way to spend a Sunday.
